First, I would like to thank each and every one of your for your hard work.
My goal is to have a comprehensive, accurate, and consistently formatted wiki for the game we all have come to love. With this in mind, I have tried to lay the groundwork for what my vision of the formatting should look like. From time to time I may edit your work so that it fits with the theme I have begun. Players have trouble finding information if it is different in each section.
Please do not be offended by my meddling, or if you are, leave me a note on my wall or on the page in question. I hope to get a forum or other feedback system in place so we can all discuss the wiki, the format and how to best move forward.
I will try to get sample texts of how I formatted the current sections so that you can use them. They aren't strictly "templates" so I will be adding to the "files" section. They are organized by the category it is intended for.
We should eventually sit down and discuss styles that we want as a community, but for now I would like to offer some guidelines.
Avoid large tables on category pages. Category pages are intended to give general information that applies to all pages in that category. Listing the times for harvesting for each crop on the crop category page is redundant and counter productive. Only information that applies to every crop should be added.
Please use the terms that the game uses. I know that referring to an Apple Tree as a crop is a bit wonky, but that is how the game is set up. So fields and trees and shrimp pots etc are all crops, because the game says so, not because I am trying to be a jerk.
Parsing the information on individual pages is very important. Most people are looking for a quick burst of information and don't want to wade thru lots of text to find it.
Please search for a page before making a new one. For instance, there is a page for Egg, the term used in the game. The wikia coding sees egg, eggs, Egg and Eggs as all different pages, not variants of the same term so if your refer to Egg as egg it thinks you mean a different item and will say the "page does not exist".
Again, I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of the contributions and hope I don't step on too many toes.
Please avoid subcategories. Using redirects allows us to avoid them, they are bulky and confusing.
